I wrote about my great-grandfather, Charles Mulder, and his farm in Caledonia, Michigan here. That post also lists other links that pertain to Great Grandpa and the Mulders.
At the time I didn’t have a good photograph of the farm, but now I have discovered a good one of the farmhouse, just as I remember it. Facing this way, the apple tree the swing hung from was to the left. The fields were also to the left, the road to the right. Because of the porch, you can see that the front of the house is on the right side.
Look at that! Is it the same swing I swung on or a different one? This is Mom’s cousin Elaine playing at the farm.
Do you have any fond farm memories?
Reblogged this on Janet’s thread.
So good to hear from you. Farm memories too numerous to mention here. Someday a post 😀
Sammy, I can’t wait! Please do write one!
No farm memories for me, unless you count going to camp. 🙂
Hah, so funny! Camp definitely does not count although that is a fascinating subject in its own right!
Both of my parents had farm experiences as kids, but I really never did. Now I feel deprived! 🙂
Although I grew up in the suburbs and went to my great-grandfather’s farm infrequently, one of the highlights of my childhood was the week I spent with my great-grandparents (GGPA and his wife Margaret).
Great pictures of the farm house and swing!
My grandparents had a farm about a mile from our house. My mother was probably unbalanced, and my dad would make sure my sister and I spent as much time as possible away from her. My favorite memory is sleeping on the porch roof on hot summer nights!
