Did you know that genealogy is supposed to be the second most popular hobby in the U.S. (USA Today)? That’s next to gardening. At our house we have them both covered because my husband is a gardener! Since we live in Arizona and he works so hard in our yard, every week a new cactus has bloomed.
I am so grateful for how Kin Types has been received. As you know, the research and the writing itself was a labor of love. The book is available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Finishing Line Press.
I’d like to ask you a little favor–if you read the book and liked what you read. Can you please consider leaving a little review, particularly on Amazon (or if you bought it on B&N leave it on that site)? You are allowed to leave a review at Amazon even if you purchased it elsewhere, such as through the publisher directly.
If the thought of a review sounds time-consuming and even scary, consider that all it takes is to rate it with stars and write one or two sentences about why you liked the book. Reviews are what bring other readers to a book.
Here are the links to leave reviews (or to purchase Kin Types):

If you pre-ordered the book through the publisher, you can post the same review over there.

And if you happen to be on Goodreads, please post it over there as well.

Lovely photo, and I have left reviews (as you know)! I hope others do as well.
Yes, you have! Thank you so much for everything, Amy! The cacti flowers are just gorgeous. It’s always so amazing to see them bloom in the midst of all the thorns. Of course, they don’t last very long, but he’s got so many planted all over the property that “somebody” always has a flower!
I got your book about a week ago, but no chance to read it yet. But will review as soon as I get time. Sorry for the delay!
Oh, no worries, Barb! hah, I wanted to remind people because it’s so easy to forget to do those reviews. I barely ever thought of it before my first book was published. Then I found out how important it is. Thanks so much :)!
Your cactus is lovely! I will definitely do it after I read it. I also use Goodreads so I’ll review there and on Amazon. 🙂
Thank you so much, Amberly! MUCH appreciated!
I was doing research for an article, when off to the side of the page, what do I see but an ad for the Kalamazoo Stove & Furnace Co. circa about 1939. Guess who I immediately thought of?
I suppose I’m too late to accept their offer for a free catalog, eh?
Oh, I love it! I guess you thought of The Family Kalamazoo! Go ahead and try ;)!!!
haha, being as they closed up 2 years after I was born, I don’t think I’m going to get that catalog anytime soon!!
I keep wanting my time travel capsule to arrive, but it hasn’t happened yet!
Lost somewhere in a time warp? They’ll make any excuse for a delayed delivery! 🙂
I loved the book and left a review on Amazon. Having raised my family in the desert of the Palm Springs area I am very partial to cactus! There is nothing close to the magic of a cactus bloom. Thanks for the picture share.
Sharon, that is so so kind of you. I appreciate it so much! The Palm Springs area is beautiful. We used to stay at an old resort that has been torn down (it was old then, hence our being able to afford it in those days!) that had many suites with their own pools. I wish I could remember the name of it! I keep seeing an M pop up in my mind.
All I can think of is Melvyn’s Ingleside Inn but I think it may still be there. I use to go to a small mineral spa in Desert Hot Springs called Coffee’s/DHS Moneral Bath House…fun desert memories
Beautiful cactus! Also, a friend of mine (who is an author), explained that clicking on the “This was helpful” buttons on the good reviews on Amazon is important too. I never even noticed them before! Can’t wait til my Kin Types arrives!
You are so right! I don’t even ask anyone to do that because I know it’s outrageous that I am even asking for reviews haha! This whole idea of self-promotion for books today is crazy. Whether they are published by a large publisher, a small press like mine, or self-publisher, we are all asked to promote our own books. Thank you about the cactus flower. My husband is so proud of them!
Your desert plant is dazzling! I will do it after I read it. I likewise utilize Goodreads so I’ll survey there and on Amazon.
