My grandparents had these over 100 year old postcards. Someone must have travelled to Germany, but these were never posted (mailed). Each one is a greeting from a particular German city.

These are great! I love old post caeds!
I do, too. My dad had a great collection. He got rid of the collection in his later years, but he framed a couple of groupings for me to hang on the wall.
That’s was really nice of him. I’ve got a few, but they are ones I bought at an antique store years ago. They don’t have any family connections.
Most of my dad’s didn’t have a family connection either, but the ones on my wall do because my father picked them out and put them together, if that makes sense. I love looking through old postcards and old photographs at antique stores!
Meeee too😀
Ha! When I saw your title, I thought you were in Germany! We will be there in May. Wonderful old postcards. I doubt I will see any like these.
As if. I wish! Nope, not Germany. Just home, having a stomachache from getting a colonoscopy yesterday haha. I doubt you will find any like these either, unless you can manage an antique store while you’re there!
Ew, sorry about the colonoscopy. One of the great thrills of being “middle-aged.” In fact, I am off to my gastro guy in a few minutes! (just a yearly check-in, not a procedure)
Lucky you haha! Yeah, what a thrill. It was my first one, and I had a good report, so that’s it for a long time again, I hope.
You may see some of the sights and buildings, though – p.e. the church in Wiesbaden, designed as the memorial for a Russian princess who died as a Nassau duchess. More when you come here!
Thanks, Dorothee! We won’t get to Wiesbaden this time—mostly the small towns where my ancestors lived plus Cologne and Heidelberg. We will be in Mainz, Bingen, Gau-Algesheim, Koblenz, Sielen, Breuna, Jesberg, Schoploch, and Hechingen!
Love those cards!
Thank you so much! Those old cards are so beautiful.
Oh gosh I love those cards!!!
Thank you! And thank you for stopping by . . . .
The post cards are wonderful. I’m always a little surprised how lovely some of the post cards were a hundred years ago.
I agree–just beautiful. When I was a kid I had a postcard collection, but I thought collecting postcards of kittens with yarn balls was the way to go ;). I imagine there were much better choices available even in the 60s.
I just love the old postcards! 😀
Me too 🙂
How lucky are you to have these treasured mementos! Thanks for sharing them!
Thank you for stopping by!! I love these old postcards and wondering how the family got them!
Wonderful postcards, Luanne. I have a collection of them too–mostly from antique stores and museums. But yours are special–since they are family treasures.
I love all old postcards, but, yes, with a family connection they are special!
Luanne, I LOVED these post cards!! The images are really awesome…thank you so much for letting the rest of us see them…
Postcards used to be so beautiful!
In reference to your German postcards, they are wonderful; they bring back great memories of my five year tour in Berlin during the reunification. I’m sure many improvements have been made to Kaiser Friedrich’s statue, but I sure wish that the scene could be like the one on that postcard! Thank you for sharing!
One thing that my family kept and I am now the holder is of all the letters that were sent from Germany by my aunts/uncles/cousins after WWII up until 2014. The letters were kept along with all of the envelopes. I can read HochDeutsch but the German used in the letters dates back to the early 1900’s. Every month or so I take out the letters and read them. Some of them are to my grandparents, aunts, uncles, my siblings, and myself. What a way to remember those in the past. Your postcards are fantastic. I have many cards that were for birthdays, Christmas, Easter, and Advent. Thanks for letting me see yours.
How lovely. Real treasures that give an idea of the times.
It’s so true.
You have such great old things!!
That is true ;)!
